Winter solstice marks the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year. It’s winter’s midpoint, from which the days get longer and brighter. For now though, the earth is pausing in deep restoration mode.
As nature stills before turning the page on the darkest half of the year to begin the lightest half, we are invited to do the same, for ourselves. Where have we been, over the past year? Who are we, now? And where, after this pause, might we be headed? The solstice is a potent threshold to turn inward and check in with our hearts.
I wrote these winter solstice themed journal prompts to help guide you through the darkness.
